July 1st

Dear July,
Fancy seeing you here. You took your time? It feels like ages since we hung out last.
June was an odd month. I barely remember the start, so smoothly did it transition over from May. I spent a lot of my time battling against the cold, as it encroached on the edges of my brain. There were lots of good things but it was busy and often rainy. The end of June – the last week – has been exhausting. Not in a bad way, not at all, but I am tired and quite ready to switch off for a day or two.
Luckily, you’re here. And we’re doing a lot of good things together. Birthdays and parties and visiting family. Fun things at work and lots to write. I think we will have a good time. I hope so. Maybe you could even lay on some sunshine for me?
I talked at a conference today, for work. It was exciting but I was very nervous and now I am very sleepy. So come in. Make yourself at home. I’ll just be over here on the couch, wrapped in a cocoon of blankets while my boyfriend makes me pasta.
