Letter to July – Twelfth

I’m going to try and blog every day during July as part of Letters to July. It’s probably a bad idea.
Dear July,
It rained today. We’re in the middle of a “weather event” apparently. It’s cold and bleak and grey. Melbourne’s capacity for grey still astounds me some days. It’s hard to understand how people wear so much black in the face of it. It makes me want to wear as much colour as I can.
Today I baked. I had to Skpye into a meeting and baking is the best way to occupy my hands while I do that. I tried to make a vegan cake to give to a friend but it tasted like barf. Do good deeds still count if you don’t finish them? The other cake I made was delicious but it contained a lot of butter and was definitely not vegan. So I didn’t give any cake to Sian.
I worked during the afternoon. Took breaks, stole time. Worked as little as I could. But only a little often ends up being rather a lot.
Next weekend we’re going to go away. I don’t know where yet. I think it’ll be nice to get away, to use a weekend for the purpose which it was intended.
