Letters to July – Twenty-first

I’m going to try and blog every day during July as part of Letters to July. It’s probably a bad idea.
Dear July,
1. Boyfriend had to get up at 7am for a 9am class. I got up with him (before him) and made tea and porridge. It was nice being up so early, while the sky was still purple. Sitting together drinking tea in the morning quiet was a lovely way to start.
2. A friend sent me a message about yesterday’s blog. It’s funny because twenty days in, I pretty much assume no one is reading these. That’s my general attitude to this blog overall these days. It’s kind of freeing, but it’s a nice surprise when people tell you they’re actually reading.
3. One of the people I met in New Zealand sent me an email saying she’s coming to NYWF and I grinned like an idiot. Suze is lovely and I can’t wait for her to be at our festival and to start building more intercontinental friendships.
4. For dinner I made meatballs with tiny star shaped pasta. The stars as so small that I could fit three of them on a finger nail. I really like them. Food makes me very happy, often in very simple, beautiful ways.
5. At bedtime, I stayed up too late and was feeling tired and emotional, too preoccupied with the swirling list of things that needed to be done in the morning. Boyfriend gave me a hug and asked me what my five things were – the five things that had made me happy today. That made me happy. I feel asleep easily.
