Twenty-seventh

Dear July,
Tonight I stayed up reading until my eyes were heavy and I couldn’t stay awake any more. I shushed my boyfriend when he tried to talk to me. I wanted to stay up longer – to read the book all the way to the end – but I’ve never been very good at staying awake past my bedtime.
I think Carry On might be the best book I have ever read? Carry On is extremely good. It’s like Harry Potter if you fixed everything that’s wrong with Harry Potter – if you took out the strange racist undertones and inexplicable societal structures and infuriating heteronormative tropes. It’s Harry Potter if people kissed who they were supposed to and had mobile phones in emergencies. Carry On is maybe a perfect book.
I have texted almost everyone I know to tell them they should read Carry On.
